Job Description: Head Barista
Overview We are seeking an experienced and passionate Head Barista to lead our coffee team and ensure the highest standards in coffee preparation, customer service, and team management. As the Head Barista, you will be responsible for maintaining the quality and consistency of our beverages, overseeing barista training, and driving innovation in our menu offerings. Your leadership and expertise will help create a welcoming and efficient café environment that enhances customer satisfaction and business success.
Responsibilities
Lead and Inspire: Promote, work, and act in a manner consistent with the mission of Treelogy. Motivate and mentor the barista team to uphold quality and service standards.
Customer Engagement: Welcome and interact with customers, understanding their preferences and using your knowledge to recommend coffee, tea, and other beverages they will enjoy.
Coffee Expertise & Quality Control:
Prepare and serve a variety of high-quality coffees, teas, and specialty beverages, ensuring consistency in taste and presentation.
Maintain deep knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, and brewing techniques.
Master and teach advanced latte art techniques, including free pouring, split pouring, and various designs such as hearts, tulips, and rosettas.
Oversee grinder calibration, dosing, tamping, and espresso extraction to maintain optimal quality.
Regularly evaluate the body and flavour profiles of espresso, ensuring every cup meets our high standards.
Adapt and innovate seasonal drinks and new menu offerings.
Operational Excellence:
Ensure the barista workspace is clean, hygienic, and well-organized.
Oversee the setup, maintenance, and cleanliness of coffee machines and equipment, troubleshooting any issues as needed.
Manage stock levels of coffee, milk, and other bar essentials to meet forecasted demand.
Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations and food hygiene standards.
Team Management & Training:
Along with the shop manager, hire, train, and develop baristas, ensuring they have the necessary skills to provide an exceptional coffee experience.
Conduct regular fun training sessions on coffee preparation, milk texturing, latte art, and customer service.
Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve team performance and efficiency.
Foster a positive team culture that encourages collaboration and professional growth.
Business Growth & Sales Optimization:
Drive sales by enhancing the customer experience and promoting high-margin products.
Monitor and manage costs without compromising quality or service.
Seek opportunities to innovate and improve processes to enhance efficiency and profitability.
Requirements
Proven experience as a senior barista, lead barista, or similar role in a high-volume café setting.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Advanced coffee-making knowledge, including espresso extraction, milk texturing, and latte art.
Passion for specialty coffee and continuous learning.
Excellent time management and multitasking abilities.
Strong customer service and communication skills.
Knowledge of food safety and hygiene regulations.
Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
