Full-time position, 40 hours per week.

Origin is a leading speciality coffee roaster in the UK, with six coffee shops based across London and Cornwall. Seasonality, provenance and traceability are at the heart of their supply chain. The company sits proudly at the forefront of the London coffee scene, employing two UK Barista champions and the World Coffee in Good Spirits 2018 champion.

Origin opened their first coffee shop in Shoreditch to wide acclaim, shortly followed by two locations at The British Library. This year they opened a new café on Scoresby Street in Southwark, which offers an extensive food menu, including all-day brunch at weekends. The new space also hosts a new state-of-the-art training facility and workstations for the company’s wholesale and technical department.

They’re now looking for a new cook with an inherent passion and knowledge about food and speciality coffee, or a willingness to learn about the latter. Their development will be supported by Origin’s Head Chef, who will work closely with the new cook to create dishes from our existing breakfast, lunch and brunch menu. They’ll be part of a friendly, fast-paced environment where research, creativity and new ideas are actively encouraged from everyone involved at the company.

The successful candidate will be at the forefront of developing the current food and drink offering, to help transform the café into a leading brunch destination in South London. There is no requirement to work evenings, and Origin are a proud supporter of the London Living Wage.

The desired person will have…

• At least 1 years’ experience as a cook, working in a similar environment • A positive work ethic and attitude, with a willingness to support others • The ability to keep calm and well-organised under pressure • A desire to learn and a creative mind for preparing and styling dishes • An interest in all aspects of the kitchen; in addition to the menu offerings, the cook will be expected to make preserves, cakes, soups and salads throughout the day • A demonstrable knowledge of speciality coffee and the wider industry as a whole
