№№ is a small, family-run coffee business with a shop in Bermondsey established in 2019, an electric coffee bike in Bermondsey, and a new shop in Brunswick Park, Camberwell (opened in 2023). All of our shops are small, well-curated and take-away only.
We run our own roastery from which we stock all of our coffee shops with delicious speciality coffee. Our shops are popular for selling only home-made, small batch, top-quality cakes, cookies and pastries, along with a small selection of deli products.
We are currently looking for someone to come in and lead our new coffee shop in Camberwell. This is a tiny, take-away only shop in Brunswick Park, housed in the former Park Keeper’s office. A beautiful old Victorian structure, the space is barely 10m2, and is more of a park kiosk than a cafe! This role could be full-time or part-time, from 30 hours + per week.
We sell hot and iced drinks, fresh bakery items (bread and pastries), cakes and cookies, as well as a small range of deli products, soft drinks, ice lollies and ice creams.
The main responsibilities include:
Managing and organising the rota and a team of 3 others
Running coffee shop shifts, alone (opening up, serving customers, closing down the shop) and as part of a team
Managing stock levels and placing orders
Feeding back news, requests and feedback to the team
45 min weekly online meeting with wider team (including Bermondsey team)
Posting on Instagram
Assisting or leading on hiring new staff when necessary
Quality control
Ensuring that health and safety rules are adhered to
General business development and pushing the business to ensure that it is as successful as possible (we’re still in our first year, so everything is new and we are always looking for the best ways to optimise and maximise what we are doing)
We are not looking for someone who just wants to make a bit of money; we are looking for someone who lives and breathes coffee and who wants to make a career in coffee and be part of the journey of building up a great coffee company. We are looking to build and maintain a team of great coffee makers and for that, we need a great team leader – hopefully you! You should care about every cup of coffee and every serving. We are looking for someone who cares about details, is a perfectionist and can push the whole team at getting better where you think we need to improve.
The role involves lots of solo working, as well as team working, and offers an opportunity to move into a leadership or managerial role, or continue in a leadership role but with more autonomy. You will have plenty of freedom to make this shop your own and make your own decisions about how it should be run.
